The 2025 State Science and Technology Awards Conference was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 8. The project “Key Technologies for Green and Intelligent Manufacturing across the Polyester Fibre Industry Chain” received the First Prize in the Awards. Wang Huaping, Director of the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center and a researcher at Donghua University, was the project’s lead contributor, while Jiangsu New Vision Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center Co., Ltd. was among the principal participating organisations.

Addressing China’s major strategic needs relating to the security and international competitiveness of the polyester fibre-industry chain, dual-carbon goals and sustainable development, the project has established an independently controlled advanced manufacturing system. This marks a significant improvement in the independent innovation capabilities of China’s polyester fibre industry and provides fresh impetus for the high-quality development of the textile sector. As a participant in the project, the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center provided the underlying data infrastructure and standards support required for breakthroughs in intelligent manufacturing.
The National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center was jointly established under the leadership of Shenghong Holding Group and Donghua University. It is China’s first national manufacturing innovation centre led by a private enterprise and is operated by Jiangsu New Vision Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center Co., Ltd. As a project participant, the Center provided key support for the development and integrated application of an intelligent data-model repository for the polyester fibre industry chain.

In standards development, the Center has participated in formulating four association standards in the “Smart Workshop for Polyester Filament” series. These cover essential areas including data specifications, functional requirements for manufacturing execution systems, workshop-logistics requirements and system-integration specifications. In data-platform development, work covering key stages such as the production, warehousing, logistics and sale of green fibre products resulted in five software copyrights. The “Industry-Wide Visualisation and Analytics Intelligent Big Data Platform and Integration Technology for the Polyester Fibre Industry Chain”, which the Center helped develop, also passed its formal technical appraisal.
